Kumaraswamy allocates portfolios to ministers, urges Congress high-command to pacify its sulking MLAs

BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday allocated portfolios to his ministers even as his government faced birth pangs of coalition politics.
Kumaraswamy retained the key finance department, as also energy while giving home to his deputy G Parameshwara of the Congress.

Earlier today, the chief minister stepped in to check the disquiet among newly elected Congress lawmakers who were left out during the Cabinet expansion. However, the Congress MLAs remained defiant.

Kumaraswamy, who was sworn in as chief minister on May 23 and proved his majority in the assembly on May 25, was unable to distribute portfolios to ministers even two days after the cabinet expansion largely due to the tumult among Congress MLAs.

Some of the disgruntled Cong MLAs were ministers in the previous government.
