PUNE: Marathi filmmakers whose works have been selected for the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa are contemplating a withdrawal from the event to protest against the decision to drop director Ravi Jadhav‘s film ‘Nude’ from the list of selected movies.

Malayalam director Sanal Kumar, whose film ‘S Durga’ also faced the same fate, filed a petition in the Kerala high court against the information and broadcasting ministry and IFFI officials over his film being dropped from the Panorama section of the festival.

Following this, head of jury Sujoy Ghosh stepped down on Tuesday. He was not willing to speak to media but said on his ‘Twitter’ handle, “My resignation is my statement”.

Another IFFI jury member Apurva Asrani resigned on Tuesday. He sent his letter via email to the IFFI. “I stand with the chairman of the jury. We have had a responsibility towards some sincere films, and somewhere we have failed them,” he told TOI.
